I already have Low-e windows?
Can I block heat and still not be dark inside?
Will I loose my view at night?
Will window film help keep me protected in a storm?
My floors are fading, what can I do?
Is there a warranty?
My A/C runs all the time, can this help?
Low-e E coatings are normally applied to the inside of the outer pane to reflect FIR waves back into the space. Different coatings and films on glass will function differently regarding infrared energy. For Far Infrared (FIR), both soft coat and hard coat Low E coatings reflect this long-wave infrared energy (heat) back inside a home, thus reducing heat loss through the windows. For Near Infrared (NIR), spectrally selective soft coat Low E coatings prevent a significant portion of the NIR energy from transmitting through a window. The NIR energy is reflected away from a window, thus reducing the amount of NIR energy that is permitted into a building to be converted to long-wave (FIR) Heat!
Window film can reduce the NIR solar energy coming into your space by 89%.
Yes! Spectrally Selective window films are designed to reject solar energy in IR range which makes up 53% of the solar energy coming into your space. Since it allows higher visable light through your windows, you stay bright yet get great solar rejection. Most Sprectrally Selective window films have a low interior reflectivity, you can still see outside at night.
Fading of floors, drapes, furniture, art work ect. are caused by the UV (Ultra Violet) rays entering your space. Normal glass will reject up to 12% of these harmful rays. Window film rejects 99% of these rays entering your home. Although the sun is the largest source of these rays, there are other sources that still contribute to fading. Visable light and humidity are also small sources!
Yes! A study Insurance companys found that during a storm the second largest cause of dammage done during a storm was when the envelope of a structure was comprimised. In plain speak, When the windows where broken allowing wind, rain or debris to enter the structure, damage was dramadicly increased. Thicker window films help make glass shatter resisient to wind and debris impact. Keeping window openings closed is of most importance during a storm.
Yes! The problem you may be having is that the solar energy coming through your windows are heating up your space. By rejecting the solar heat entering your space you will reduce the load in your A/C unit.
Yes! Most window films come with a limited lifetime residential manufacture warranty. Commerical warranties are from 10 -15 years!
It depends on the choice of film you install. Normal glass has a interior reflectivity of about 8%. Window films having a interior reflectivity of 8-9% will allow you to see out at night, with the inside lights on, them same as your windows currently do.
